THE COOKING CLUB REVIEWS
Savor Santa Barbara Waterfront to Wine Country
Spring 2004
Reviewed by Liz Waters
This remarkable book from the Assistance League of Santa Barbara is not
only the winner of one of the Tabasco Awards for community cookbooks,
but is certain to be a classic. It is innovative in scope and scale, offers
a variety of new recipes that will be certain to make any cook's list
of favorites, and is also a joy to read and to explore. So far, we have
made the Creamy Caesar Dip (why didn't someone think of this before?),
the California Gold Soup (wonderful addition on any meal), the Shake Pickles
(what fun!), and the Apricot Walnut Bars. In short, we have enjoyed reviewing
this book thoroughly. Not only are these new ideas and great recipes,
but they have obviously been tested, and tested. They are as advertised,
and the clear, easy-to-read instructions will have you making up some
delicious new things in your kitchen!

| "The blessings of the bounty from the magnificent
Santa Barbara County are highlighted within these pages. The valleys
of Santa Ynez, Santa Rita and Santa Maria offer ideal conditions
for some of the finest wines in the world - proudly Santa
Barbaran and perfect accompaniments to the culinary delights that
the area has to offer from the waterfront to the garden."
David Michael Cane, host of "A Matter of Taste" heard on KEYT NewsRadio 1250 and syndicated Nationally on Talk One
Network.
"These recipes are testimony to the generosity,
skill, diversity, and talent of local food enthusiasts, whose appreciation
of good food and good wine form yet another common denominator... we
hope you'll savor these dishes in your own homes... Bon
appetit!
